"Il Mulino" in New York has been voted NY’s No1 Italian restaurant for the
19th year in a row by the ZAGAT Guide to New York City, the most
authoritative restaurant guide book in New York. It is one of those
restaurants in New York City where reservation are very hard to come by. A
sister restaurant to “Il Mulino” opens on December 19, 2003 in Roppongi
Hills in Japan first. The “Il Mulino” in Tokyo consists of 102 seats in
the dining area and 58 seats in the lounge area. We hope you will visit and
try some of the best flavors at the “Il Mulino” in Tokyo.
Unlike the current trend of many Italian restaurants to serve small portions
of food and focus on presentation and healthiness, the portions of the "Il
Mulino" are manly one prepared with a “ Gutsy and Garlicky” taste. Only
the best food materials are used which are seasoned with an abundance of
garlic and olive oil. We strive to create a new category of food; what can
be called “Fine Italian Cuisine”.
The staff is intent on providing impeccable service based upon a spirit of
hospitality that will satisfy all guests. Il Mulino received a score of 24
points out of 30 for service by the ZAGAT Guide to New York City ranking it
in the "very good to excellent" category. The style of service not only
focuses on the guests’ tables, but also serving sauces on dishes, mixing
sauces with pastas, cutting desserts and so on, in front of the guests.
These services will entertain guests for a more enjoyable mealtime. Grappa
is also served after meals.
The dining area decor is classical based on brown colored wood and ivory
colored walls. As an interior accent, tower shaped displays heaping with
wood boxes of wines and food materials, which exists at Il Mulino in New
York, is reproduced, and booth seating is set along the wall. We also have
a lounge creating a relaxed atmosphere for guests to enjoy conversation
before and after meals. The lounge area is equipped with indirect lighting
that faintly shines. As a unique selling point, a “water space” where water
runs down a partition made with glass and a “fire space” with a fireplace
are set in the lounge area. These will serve to fascinate guests..
