New York’s Long Established Seafood Restaurant Arrives in Japan “Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant”
Grand Opening on the Fourth Floor of “arte Shinagawa” on March 3, 2004!

The long established seafood restaurant “Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant”, located in New York’s Grand Central Station, will have its grand opening on March 3 on the fourth floor of “arte Shinagawa”, a soon to be opened multi-use commercial complex in the JR Shinagawa Station.

“Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant” was established in 1913 within “Grand Central Station”, the entrance to Manhattan, New York. Boasting a ninety year history and international notoriety as a foremost American landmark establishment, this restaurant attracts New York locals as well as tourists from around the globe - in fact, the vast 453 seat space usually overflows with a lively crowd from opening until closing. In New York, a place where oyster bars abound, the “Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant” holds a steadfast position described most often with the phrase: “The Grand Central Oyster Bar is THE oyster bar to go to!”

The menu offerings of the “Grand Central Oyster Bar & Restaurant” opening at “atre Shinagawa” are the same as that of the main New York location: fresh seafood appetizers highlighted by over ten types of fresh oysters, chowders and soups, salads, main dishes and desserts. In all, over 100 hand made items are offered. In addition, a number of Tokyo original items are also featured.

Since wine is compatible with seafood, the restaurant offers over 120 types of wines with a core of French whites, and 16 types are offered by the glass. Pairing oysters with wine is now standard with New York gourmets. We invite you to enjoy this pairing in Shinagawa, Tokyo.

The interior decorations include extensive use of tile to create the feeling of an “old and good American atmosphere” very much like that of the New York restaurant. The restaurant interior consists of four uniquely different areas to serve a variety of purposes: the main dining area (133 seats including a private party room) with a dome ceiling identical to that of the New York restaurant, the raw bar (12 seats) where guests can leisurely enjoy fresh oysters at a counter, the bar and lounge area (20 seats) perfect for an after work or after dinner drink, and the terrace (20 seats) open from the Spring to late Autumn.
