On May 1, the "Forrest Gump" Movie Themed Seafood Restaurant Makes its Debut in the Kanto District
"Bubba Gump Shrimp", an American seafood restaurant which has as its theme the 1995 Academy Award winning movie "Forrest Gump" began in Monterey, California, USA in 1996. By combining seafood revolving around shrimp, friendly service, and the allure of the "Forrest Gump" movie, the restaurant became extremely popular, and to date thirteen restaurants have been developed, mainly in the United States.

In Japan, the first restaurant opened in March 2001 within "Universal CityWalk Osaka", a commercial complex in front of Universal Studios Japan.
And, on May 1, 2003, the Tokyo location will open on the first floor of "LaQua", a spa, attraction, retail shop and restaurant commercial complex located at the "Tokyo Dome City" which will also open on May 1.

The Tokyo location will be a place where one can comfortably enjoy large portions of American Southern cooking, including seafood focusing on shrimp, hamburgers, sandwiches, appetizers, salads and desserts. Various drinks will be offered, from original smoothies and margaritas to numerous cocktails and beers.

In the store connected to the restaurant, t-shirts and hats decorated with the cute "Shrimp Louie" character, as well as stuffed "Shrimp Louie" characters will be sold.

Also, from May 1 to 31, the Osaka restaurant will commemorate the opening of the Tokyo restaurant, and will offer a special "Shrimp Sampler" dish complete with original glass containing a logo for 2,980 yen.
